Mr. Bishop is the Principal of Settlement Professionals, Inc., a firm dedicated to providing legal professionals with analysis, design and implementation of periodic payment programs used to settle personal injury litigation. Rick has been involved in the financial services industry since 1974, first as a financial planner and then as a structured settlement consultant. From September 1982 to present Rick has specialized in the structured settlement marketplace. Mr. Bishop has taught seminars on the benefits of structured settlements for the Consumer Attorneys of California and is a past member of the faculty of the National Judicial College. He is a past member of the board of directors of the Central Coast Claims Association and is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriter, The National Structured Settlements Trade Association and a number of local claims associations in California.
In November, 1996, the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA), in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame, conferred upon Mr. Bishop the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), in recognition of his successful completion of course study culminating in a comprehensive examination covering such topics as insurance casualty claims practice, state and federal laws pertaining to tort settlements, medical reversionary trust, special needs trust, macroeconomics, the art of negotiation and business ethics. There are approximately four hundred professionals from across the country to have earned the CSSC designation since it was first offered in 1993.
Clients include major medical malpractice insurers for physicians and hospitals, defense law firms, self insured corporations, claims adjusters, third party administrators and government agencies. He is known and endorsed by many plaintiff attorneys as an expert in negotiating, designing and implementing structured settlements for their clients. In addition to structured settlements, Rick provides life insurance, annuities and estate planning services.
Rick lives in Elk Grove, California, and serves clients in Northern and Central California as well as the state of West Virginia.
