A native of Northern California, Samuel D. Belknap hails from San Jose, originally. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a BA degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Communications, 2005. Prior to coming on-board with Settlement Professionals, Inc., Sam was an SPI intern during the summers of 2003 and 2004.
Following college, Sam went traveling. In 2005, he made an extended trek throughout Europe. He later lived in Maui, Hawaii, and traveled throughout the Hawaiian Islands before moving back to California. Sam started with SPI, February 1, 2007.
In 2001 Sam was severely injured in a catastrophic automobile accident. He has had to learn, first hand, the struggles involved in recovery, as well as the benefits of Structured Settlements.
Sam is currently enrolled in The Registered Settlement Planner designation program through Texas Tech University. This course covers the most relevant parts of the legal and financial planning environment to settlement planning.
Topics include: Principles of Financial Planning; Financial Institutions; Time Value of Money; Trial Procedure; Property Law; Alternative Dispute Resolution; Torts; Wills & Trusts Planning for Incapacity; Income and Estate Tax Systems; Investment Principles; Life Insurance; Annuities; and Estate Planning.
Mr. Belknap is a member of the Society Settlement Planners (SSP), the Settlement Planners For Consumer Rights (SPFCR), and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD).
